This song was written in the fall of 1979. Just coming off of the road from a cross-country tour, our manager, Mel Shaw, wanted to hear our album... which we didn't have. He didn't scold but mentioned in no uncertain terms that if we were waiting for our big break we might be waiting for a long time. That lit the fire under me and in the subsequent weeks I wrote a lot about the road, coming home and, in this case, defiance.
